I have a collar pain, and the put a bet on side of the neck have become hard, and very soon it has started paining closely. You might also want to consider seeing an orthopaedist.
See a chiropractor first. They can manipulate the bones and vertebrae so that possibly it can be fixed that way. They will probably refer you to a doctor after that for Medication prescription. While you are at home try putting a heat pad or hot marine from the shower on it to ease the muscles.
